St Marys U11As Vs Belhaven

St. Marys U11A’s Vs Belhaven

Team: Will ©, Magnus, Geordie, William, Ruben, Harry, Arthur, Manny, Caleb and James.

On Wednesday we journeyed to Dunbar for with our fingers crossed to avoid the rain. A fixture against Belhaven is always a special one. We arrived to clear skies and with a great wicket to play on ready to go.

St. Marys lost the toss and batted first in our first taste of proper hardball cricket where if you’re out you are out. Magnus and Will opened the batting where they got a combined 45 runs and were both caught after an impressive partnership. With the rain breaking up the play of cricket we shortened the game to 12 overs a side. After an early match tea, we resumed with our batting and finished on 55 runs.

A quick team talk to energise the boys as everyone had to be on their toes. St. Mary’s made a great start with the bowling claiming wickets in the 2nd, 3rd and 4th over. Geordie got among the wickets with a great bowl to get out a batsman that had made up a few runs.

The final result was St. Mary’s winning by 21 runs in a great game.

All the boys taking part showed exceptional enthusiasm in playing in the rain and great sportsmanship by clapping on and off batsman and celebrating with team mates through wickets and top fielding.

We look forward to taking on Merchiston next week in our run in to the half term.

Our player of the match was Will for his 28 runs scored and 2 wickets taken (both from bowling).
