U9 St. Mary's v Belhaven Hill

The Under 9 rugby squad continued their good form when Belhaven visited St Mary's on Wednesday. A fine team performance with each member of the squad contributing to the match both in attack and defence. In what was once again a great advert for Under 9 rugby both teams were full of running making it a fast and open 5 a-side touch rugby game. St Mary's scored first to which Belhaven responded straight from the restart, St Mary's scored a further 2 before the visitors  managed to get back on the score sheet making the score 3-2 at half time. St Mary's continued to use their replacements which resulted in 3 quick scores just after the break, 6-2. The rest of the second period saw both teams take it in turns to score points with St Mary's having the final score of the afternoon making the final score 10-5 for St Mary's.
Well done to all the players for a tremendous effort, they are starting to work hard for each other, displaying good communication and support play and most of all not giving up till the final whistle,  but like all teams win or lose there are always areas to work on and improve. Thanks to the large number of parents for coming along and lending their support, to Belhaven for their part in a very competitive and fun game, to Mr Brydon for keeping our pitches in great shape and of course to the kitchen staff for the after match grab bags for the players.
The big test for this squad will be their first full contact match which hopefully will be soon.
