U9 Lions v Mowden Hall

Wednesday 29th September

On yet another fine Wednesday afternoon at St Mary's the U9 Lions rugby squad welcomed Mowden Hall and as per last week it turned out to be a very entertaining game of touch rugby. Both teams played well with good defence and communication, fast running and support play. It was all square at half time with both sides scoring 3  tries.
The second half was even more entertaining, end to end play with St Mary's scoring first then Mowden, then St Mary's and so on. This pattern continued until the final play. With St Mary's leading 6-5 and Mowden just short of St Mary's try line it was looking like the game would end in a draw but some great defence by the home side forced Mowden to lose the ball which St Mary's players quickly responded too. With the ball tightly secured St Mary's ran the full length of the pitch again with tremendous support play they scored to make the final score 7-5. A super end to what was great advert for Under 9s rugby.
