U9B/U8 v Mowden Hall

On Wednesday afternoon the Fantastic Form Three Five put on a thrilling display of running rugby to defeat Mowden Hall on the Bottom Field.

U9B v Mowden Hall

Mowden Hall arrived with a large squad and the home team was reinforced by one of their number to allow more boys to be involved in the game.

The match kicked off with the visitors in possession and the Under 8s soon put their trademark press defence into effect; pushing up the pitch as a line to force errors from Mowden and working through the tackles. They knew the turnover was coming after the sixth tackle and, when it duly arrived, they pounced on the ball before spinning it through the hands and out to the speedster Hugo.

Hugo ran in a cracker of an opening try followed soon after by another from Charles, a second for Hugo and a second for Charles. With St. Mary's four scores to the good, the half-time hooter came at just the right time to allow both teams to receive a few coaching points.

When the second half resumed, first Hector then Sholto and Arthur scored before Hector scored his second and (possibly) a third. Sholto completed his brace and then it was time to mix the teams a little for the final five minutes. It was lovely to see Charles run in a belter of a try for the Mowden Barbarians with the last play of the game.

Well done indeed, boys!

Final Score: St. Mary's School U8 beat Mowden Hall School
