As a revision exercise and an extension of their learning on sound waves, F8 planned and carried out an investigation to see if they could hear better with paper ears. The weather was against us as it was very windy, which played havoc with our structures, but on the whole we got some interesting, if inconclusive results. About 50% of the class found that they had improved hearing with the paper ears. We also found that larger paper ears did not work as well as smaller paper ears. This led to some important discussions about why some ears worked better than others and how we could improve our method.
