The 2nds  and 1sts both travelled together in the same bus down to Mowden with  a real sense of excitement for todays match.  Arriving in plenty time we were able to fit in a good warm up and a couple of drills before we started. Mowden won the toss and took the first centre pass. It was a great start with both teams moving the ball around court. St Mary’s took the 1st quarter 5-4. The 2nd quarter we lost our Captain to the 1sts as they gained an injury this completely threw our girls which resulted in a disappointing ten minutes. Passes were being intercepted and the defenders were just not able to get the ball up to the GS and GA, 7 -10 to Mowden at half time.  Thankfully we got Captain Emma back which settled the team. Marking got stronger and the passes were more accurate, however we were still not moving into space as well as Mowden who were quick to intercept the ball and executed the high release ball brilliantly. 3rd quarter ended 12 -12.  This was proving to be an extremely exciting match and it came down to the last quarter. Our centre pass was quick and skilful  linking in well with the attacking players, when we did lose the ball to Mowden  the defenders kept tight marking, communication picked up and we definitely moved. The girls were able to feed the ball to GS who had a superb game. A very closely fought match in a wonderful spirit ending 17 -15 to St Marys.

Huge thanks to Mowden for making us feel so welcome and for the delicious match tea.
Well done girls.
