3rds v Fettes College

Wednesday 6th Nov 2019
St Mary’s 1; Fettes 6

Captain: Emily L

One of these games which is not really a true reflection of a match-perhaps if the game was reported on in 2 halves we would get a better picture. The first half was not a display of the hockey I know these girls can play, so we will move rapidly on to the second half. This half was superb!
From the re-start whistle, Sophie got the bit between her teeth and after some lovely skills, took the ball in to the D and scored….all within 25 seconds. This was just the tonic as the rest of the team followed suite and soon Emily was bombing up and down the pitch, Kirsty was moving in to the attackers with her stick low and Bea remembered to stay back and help protect the D-communication certainly helped. Harriet and Megan tracked back and effort on the team’s behalf was now apparent-bravo!  Fettes scored one questionable goal, followed by another fine shot, thus winning this half 2-1. A far fairer representation of what our Super seven were capable of. Grateful thanks to Beattie who played for both the 3rds and U11s today.
Well done for sticking in, girls. Great resilience.
