2nds Hockey VIII v Belhaven

Wednesday 9th October 2019
St Mary’s 3  -  Belhaven  1
Captain – Kate

The girls got off to a slow start this was surprising as we had a thorough warm up session before and worked on several drills to get them energised. There was far too much over- crowding in the centre, therefor when the ball eventually moved wide there  wasn’t a player to receive the ball. The forwards were often out of position when a cross into the D was being made and Belhaven defence could make excellent clearances.  We did manage a goal which gave us the lead going into half time.  After a good strong chat at the break we came out  fighting, the second half felt like a different match. Marking was tighter and we fought for the ball more aggressively. St Mary’s  had 3 short corners one of which we scored from… great job!  Belhaven were excellent at talking to one another on the pitch and giving encouragement, we need to see far more of this from St Mary’s.
Next match on the 30th October v’s Loretto at Tweedbank.
Enjoy your rest over half term girls.
