U10 Hockey v Belhaven

Wednesday 9th Oct
St. Mary's 3 - Belhaven 1
Captain Jemima

The afternoon had a cold and windy start but the girls soon warmed up as they dashed around the pitch.

We won the toss and quickly worked this to our advantage by taking the ball before the opposition had a chance and pushed it towards our scoring end.  We were in high spirits and delighted to score a magnificent two goals in the first half.  The attacking trio worked confidently in wide spaces to pass the ball towards the goal with the support of some great quick thinking and stick skills from our tremendous midfield as they found good positions to help the attacking players as well as support our defenders.  Our defence swept the balls away from the goal area with some lovely strong passes.

Our good fortune and strong teamwork continued in the second half scoring another goal only allowing one goal past our defence close to the final whistle.

The girls were amazing today and we were all delighted with the score.

A well-deserved half term break will help us to prepare for a few more matches this term against Loretto, Fettes, Cliftonhall, Mowden and Riley House (Strathallan).

Great effort today!
