U11A Cricket v Ardvreck School

On Wednesday afternoon a strong St. Mary's Undies side took on Ardvreck on Front Field. We are extremely fortunate to be able to play on such a superbly prepared surface and Wednesday's pitch was not exception. Despite the heavy rain earlier in the day it was in immaculate condition for a fierce contest between two proud schools.

Captain John won the toss for the first time this season and we elected to field. The Undies attack opened with Ollie clean-bowling the Ardvreck man for a diamond duck. This triggered a little collapse as two other batsmen followed leaving the Ardvreck U11s staring into the abyss.

Bowlers were rotated with every boy taking an over or two. Lochie had his best spell with a couple of wickets while the remainder of the dismissals were shared amongst the others. The best was probably Henry's excellent catch at silly-mid from Isaac's delivery.

The Ardvreck Number 3 stayed in for a significant part of the innings and scored some good runs. However, they struggled to get the ball off the square due to accurate and consistent St. Mary's bowling and he ran out of partners with 19 overs played.

Ardvreck U11A 46 - all out

With a rejigged batting order, the St. Mary's team took to the field. Ardvreck possessed a superb bowler capable of bowling extremely accurately and quickly with a good degree of swing. He took three scalps in Fergus, Nic and Blair before Isaac B and Captain John steadied the ship. Isaac B was particularly tough to dislodge and clung on for the Ardvreck hitman's four overs. Captain John was unlucky to be skittled as he mistimed a drive leaving Henry and Ollie to bring up the total inside 13 overs.

Overall, it had been an interesting contest with Henry's and Tristan's catches being particular highlights.

St. Mary's U11A beat Arvreck U11A by 6 wickets.
