U11s at Glenalmond 6s Tournament

On Sunday afternoon, the St. Mary's U11 VI travelled to Perthshire for the Glenalmond 6s tournament.

We played two matches in our pool against Ardvreck and then Belhaven. Our bowling was incredibly accurate with Mr Extras barely featuring on the opposition scoresheet and the opposing batsmen found it hard to get the ball off the square. Tristan was a constantly chatting presence behind the stumps - very unnerving for any batsman!

With Henry and Isaac B opening the batting followed by Captain John, Josh, Ewan and Tristan we had no problems setting a massive total against Ardvreck before brushing Belhaven aside within four overs.

This set up a final against Cargilfield. They won the toss and elected to bat first. Unfortunately, we were unable to skittle either of their openers and, despite some heroic fielding, they built a big score that proved insurmountable.

However, the advice given was that "if you are going down, you go down in flames with all guns blazing". The boys duly did so, swatting the ball around with swashbuckling abandon and striding into the fray with confidence whenever one of their mates was out.

That was what Sunday was all about; playing for and with your mates and giving it all you've got.

You made this coach very proud. Well done to you all.
