2nd VII Hockey v St. George's

Wednesday 20th March

The girls were excited to return to Tweedbank for a new fixture, with St George’s.  Due to a late pass back time we were able to fit in a good practice session with the 1st VIII before the visitors arrived. We played 4 x10 minute quarters which allowed us to make more position changes and give quick feedback.  We started off really well, driving the ball forward and scoring an early goal which gave the team confidence. In the second and third quarters St George’s put on the pressure and we kept losing possession with weak,   inaccurate passing and consistently firing the ball up the middle. St. Mary’s were given two short corners, however we weren’t able to get through their defence. The final quarter was perhaps our best, the girls fought harder for the ball and used space more effectively, which resulted in an excellent goal.  Today the forwards had opportunities, but weren’t quite able to finish-you need more belief and determination, girls!  Midfielders have to work on their fitness (!); defence you were strong and gutsy.
Our last match of this term. Hope your all looking forward to sunny afternoons on the rounders field!

Well Done, girls.
