U9 Hockey v St. George's

Wednesday 20th March

The Form 4 girls travelled to Edinburgh this week to play St George’s at hockey, this was the first time we had visited the school and the girls were very excited as we drove past Murrayfield.

St Georges2

The match was 8 a-side and played over 2 halves.  The girls worked hard and despite not having played hockey since last year showed the same amount of skill and determination that they had finished the season with.  It soon became apparent that they were against a much stronger team, who had been playing hockey all term.  The St Mary’s girls worked hard to defend during the match against a persistent attack from the St George’s players and weren’t afraid to go in for the tackle.  They also demonstrated some super stick skills and accurate passing using the width of the pitch when on the attack.
St George’s were the overall victors, however all credit to the U9 girls for remaining positive, keeping your heads up, and enjoying the game.

Well played Amelia (Captain), Hannah, Beatrice, Jemima, Kiera, Lily, Abigail and Mathida.
