2nd VII Netball v Mowden Hall, Riley House and St. M's 3rds

Captain – Iona

It was super to welcome Riley House and Mowden Hall to St Mary’s today for three matches which were all being played with two 7 minute halves.  Our first game was against Mowden As, it got off to a good start and we fired in 3 goals in the first half. The girls were able to put in good passes and moved well around court. The second half was very even as Mowden certainly put more pressure on our girls, particularly in defence. St Mary’s won 4 -1.  Next up was Riley Bs which the girls dominated in the first half, displaying super set pieces, winning centre passes, moving ball to our WA and  firing straight into the D where GS and GA were well positioned; we were 5 goals up at half time.  We swapped our C and GS to try and even up the match, this definitely slowed the game down and Riley were able to intercept more of our passes. St Mary’s won 7-0. Finally our last game against St Mary’s 3rds where both teams were on a high! The girls were slightly too relaxed in this match and silly mistakes were being made, in particular  loss of ball control and contact, however the 2nds did come away with another win 5-0. Three wins out three great effort girls, you quite rightly deserved to celebrate!

Next week we are swapping the netball court for the hockey pitch as we have a new fixture against St George’s at Tweedbank.
