U11B and U10 Netball Triangular

with Craigclowan

 Wednesday 6th March

The rain held off for us today as we welcomed the U11 team from Craigclowan, near Perth.  As we were at home this week it was great to have everyone taking part in this triangular match.  We began with both U11 teams playing with Lily and Mahi joining the St. Mary’s U11B’s this week.  The first half was very even with both teams passing well, defending and scoring 2 goals each.  In the second 10 minutes the U11B St. Mary’s girls dominated the game with some steady passing, finding the spaces and using the sides to get the ball down the court.  They were communicating well and scored 2 goals winning the game 4-2.

The U10 girls then played Craigclowan;the first half saw St. Mary’s racing all over the court, shouting, and perhaps passing too quickly which impeded their concentration and gave the opposition a leading score of 4-1.  However, after half time the girls calmed down, thought carefully about the skills they have been learning and used their sneaky bounce passes to gain control of the ball.  They played well, used the spaces and although lost 6-2 they played to a high standard against a more experienced team.  Even the coach from Craigclowan commented on their team effort and strong play.

We said Goodbye to Craigclowan and continued with our final match St. Mary’s U10’s against the U11B’s.
Our U11B team dominated the game with a final score of 13-4 but the U10’s never gave up.  The game was friendly and fun and a good way to finish the day.  The girls were all suitably tired out by the end and all quite rightly pleased with their own involvement in each match.  As we are now well over the half way mark of netball matches this term it is lovely to observe the girls progress and development of skills.
