U8 v Mowden Hall

On Wednesday afternoon the brave Under 8s faced up against a decent Mowden Hall outfit out on the Front Field.

We fielded a tough and dependable side of veterans and, despite the monsoon conditions, showed real grit throughout a contest that swung like a pendulum.

Mowden were first to take the initiative with a good long-range effort before Archie S struck back. The scores were levelled by half-time as good hands from Fergus C, Angus M, Max S and Oscar P put George G clear to open a narrow lead. This was soon cancelled out by Mowden as both teams went toe to toe in the mud and rain.

Ruaraidh screamed through for a super try but it was Mowden that closed out the scoring to leave the teams deadlocked at three tries apiece.

It seemed a shame to blow the final whistle but it was absolutely freezing and everyone was looking forward to sausage, beans and chips in the warmth of the Dining Room.

Well played all of you!
