U11B Fettes/Belhaven Triangular

It was St. Mary’s pleasure to host this year’s Annual U11 Triangular. On a warm and sunny autumn afternoon, it was St. Marys and Belhaven who commenced proceedings in the 8 a side 15 minute per match event.
St Marys started positively, and by retaining possession scored the opening try. Belhaven though showed their capabilities, by not only scoring themselves but in fact taking the lead. Much credit goes to both teams as they tried to play all out running rugby. In the end St. Marys just shaded it as they equalised then scored a last gasp winner. The 2nd match again saw St. Marys in action with Fettes. St. Marys quickly ran up a 3 try lead, but Fettes didn’t give up and gradually they got themselves into the match to show what they were capable of. Though St. Marys added a further try Fettes added 2 nice tries themselves for the match to end 4-2 to St. Marys.
The 3rd and final match now saw our 2 guest teams pit themselves against each other and test their skills. Again the theme was to play open, running and handling rugby which resulted in an enjoyable game to watch. It turned out to be another close affair with only a try in it at 2-1 to Fettes.
A big well done goes to all boys of the 3 schools who tried their best and played some rugby that was easy on the eye and pleasing to watch. It won’t be as good as that every week with the sunshine, setting and dry ball, but it was good to enjoy it whilst we had it!
