Ducklings rescued from High Street

Every year, mallard ducks nest somewhere in the school grounds. The ducklings hatch and the mother duck leads them across the pitches and down to the river.

This year, the little family found itself on the High Street. Being sensible birds, they waited patiently at the Side Gate until Mr Bell let them through!

Throughout the course of the day they made their way to the Back Gate and out onto St. Mary's Road where three fell down a storm drain. Fortunately, Mr Rawson and Mrs Harvey were on hand with a shrimping net to fish them out, plop them in a bucket and, with the help of Lochie R, carry them down to the river where they were reunited with their anxious mummy.

It was a fraught few hours for all involved!
