Surfers Against Sewage Award for School

Dom Ferris and Ellie Ewart from Surfers Against Sewage (SAS) visited the school last week. We are proud to announce that St. Mary's is the first junior school in Scotland to achieve SAS Plastic Free Schools status.

This year we have drastically reduced the amount of single-use plastic (water bottles and yogurt pots etc) that we use, we have written to Mr Michael Gove asking government to implement positive policy changes, we have put up posters around school, picked litter around the campus and local area and written to companies imploring them to reduce plastic production.

We are delighted with the progress that we have made so far but know there is so much more that we can do to help within the school grounds and further afield.

Well done to all involved!
