2nds Rounders v Cargilfield and Belhaven

Wednesday 9th May 2018

The 2nds rounders team set off to Cargilfield for a triangular fixture also against Belhaven. The girls were in high spirits despite the awful weather that graced us during the fixtures. The first match the girl played was against Belhaven; with Phoebe losing the toss the girls batted first. Our first 2 batters Hannah and Anna scored an impressive half a rounder but the Belhaven girls quickly knocked out Hannah C, Molly C and Iona, all within a matter of minutes. This didn’t discourage the girls as they continued to keep trying and managed to get 3 rounders.
Swapping over with Belhaven and the girls knew they had to try their hardest and they did- getting out 4 players and stopping them getting more rounders. The girls in deep tried their hardest to get the ball in as quickly as possible with Anna working very hard to get the ball to 3rd post as quickly as possible. Iona also worked really hard as backstop running to 4th and throwing to 2nd.
After a tough game the girls lost 3- 13 ½.
The next match against Cargilfield, Phoebe first won the toss and chose to field with the girls working harder this time  to stop the home team from getting as many as Belhaven; the Belhaven game acted as a warm up for the girls as they stumped girls out! With Cargilfield’s batting over they ended with 7 ½.
With the girls up next to bat they knew what they had to beat and they were ready to win! With our first two batters up scoring half rounders. Our first rounder went to Lucy W, smashing the ball and making the impressive run around the pitch! The next impressive rounder went to Amelie, as she ran past second base the ball was thrown and Amelie had to jump over the ball and managed to make it all the way around! #BambiJump.
The finals score against Cargilfield was 7 ½ - 9
Congratulations girls for winning against Cargilfield you deserved it!
