IAPS Rounders Tournament

Captain: Isla
Wednesday 2nd May 18

The rain pelted down as we drove north and it was hard to believe the tournament was going to go ahead-however, on reaching Bridge of Earn, the sun peeked through and the sky cleared.

Drawn in a pool with Craigclowan, Kilgraston and Belhaven, the girls thus has 3 games with one x 10 minute innings.

Against Kilgraston catches were taken by Jessica and Rowan (2) with many stumpings at 2nd from Isla; work in the deep field improved as the girls got to grips with playing on astro turf (by jove, that ball travelled fast!) After 10 minutes Kilgraston had 11.5 rounders-quite a score to chase. But chase it we did, with full rounders coming from Emma (3) Eliza (3) Rosie (2) Freya, Jessica and Mhairi (1) added to that we had 9x ½ which came to 14.4-a great score and a victory!
Fantastic fielding from Mhairi and Eliza at backstop and first post helped us stump Craigclowan ,’all out’ after just 5 minutes and 5 rounders-2 of which were full) This dynamic duo also caught out one player each and were certainly noted by staff from other schools! I thought we surely had this game wrapped up but it was not to be-only Tegan and Jessica scored full rounders and a 6 halves were collected before our big hitters were caught out; after such fabulous fielding this was an unfortunate draw, but all credit to Craigclowan for halting our scores.

Our final match against Belhaven (the eventual winners) was not our finest moment and one we would prefer to forget! Jessica score 2 full rounders  with 7 x ½ for no balls, obstruction or reaching second post, again giving us just 5 rounders. Belhaven replied with a total of 13.5 and fully deserved their victory.
So, 1 win, 1 loss, 1 draw and a bus load of cheerful girls all added to a fairly fruitful day out.

On the back of their performances, we were delighted that Isla, Jessica, Mhairi and Eliza were selected for the Dandylions squad-well done!
