U9A Netball v Arvreck

14th March 2018

The U9A team travelled to Loretto to play Ardvreck who had travelled down from Perthshire.  The weather was cold and windy but dry, St Mary’s won the toss and choose first centre pass
Despite having first pass the girls were slow to get into the game, Ardvreck took advantage of this and quickly scored.  This gave the girls the boost they needed and they came back on the attack, Olivia (C) passed the ball to Freya (WA) who quickly passed it to Celia (GA) in the D to shoot and score.  Play moved quickly between these 2 evenly matched teams throughout the rest of the first quarter which finished 2 goals all.

St Mary’s took the lead in the second quarter scoring 3 goals to Ardvreck’s one.  Tallulah (GK) and Zara (GD) worked hard to deny the Ardvreck GS and GA access to the D, moving the ball down the court, out of our defensive third to Beattie (WD) who linked with the St Mary’s attackers providing opportunities for them to move into the D and shoot.

The girls continued to work hard to retain possession of the ball, demonstrating accurate passing skills and some lovely intercepts throughout the remaining 2 quarters, scoring a further 5 goals to Ardvreck’s 3.

At the end of the final match of the season St Mary’s finished the winners, 10 goals to 6, a fantastic result.
Charlotte (2 goals), Celia (8 goals), Freya, Olivia, Zara, Tallulah.
Very well played girls.
