Tennis

With two purpose built all-weather tennis courts, tennis at St. Mary’s has never been stronger. Although not played competitively against other schools, inter school competitions are not only popular among the children but allow children to shine in another area of sport.

The school’s tennis coach Mrs Elspeth Whitelaw coaches children from Lower Transition through to Form 8. Sessions are usually held on Tuesday and Thursday evenings at St. Mary’s throughout the summer term.

A number of children also participate in competitions for their clubs out-with school. Also, Grandparents are privy to a practical demonstration of skills from some children on Grandparents’ Morning and in the evenings staff can at times be spotted thrashing it out for supremacy! Gap students are usually particularly competitive (and often good!).
